Barnsley Building Society increases Online Bond rate

Barnsley Building Society has increased the interest rate on its 3 year fixed rate Online Bond to 4.7%.

This rate increase comes soon after Barnsley announced new fixed rate savings bonds paying up to 5% AER on a four year bond.

There are 1, 2, 3 and 4 year fixed rate savings bonds available, paying annual or monthly interest.

The fixed rates are

• 1 year Online Bond – 3.1% AER
• 2 year Online Bond – 4% AER
• 3 year Online Bond – 4.7% AER
• 4 year Online Bond – 5% AER

The minimum opening balance is £100 and the maximum £2 million (£500,000 on 1 year Bond).

The accounts are only available online and have a paperless application process. Savers can deposit funds electronically using their debit card.
