Barclaycard has confirmed it is now rolling out contactless cards to its Barclaycard Gold and Classic cardholders.
Contactless cards enable secure payment for goods and services up to £10 without the need to enter a PIN or signature.
They make payments easier and faster and typically are used for that quick coffee, sandwich, newspaper or magazine.
Retail outlets where you can use contactless cards include Prêt a Manger, Coffee Republic and Yo! Sushi!, as well as a range of independent retailers.
Managing Director UK cards at Barclaycard, Amer Sajed, said ‘We are dedicated to making our customers’ lives easier and are seeing increasing demand for contactless by our customers, who can now make contactless payments at thousands of retailers across the UK.’
Around 2 million Barclaycard cards can now be used to make contactless payments, including Barclaycard OnePulse, Barclaycard Platinum and Barclaycard Goldfish cards.
Barclaycard Gold and Classic cardholders who receive a new, reissued or replacement card will now get one that can make contactless payments.
As a result, in three years the number of contactless cards in circulation will have increased by 4 million.
