Abbey credit cards will, from next Monday, 15 June, be rebranded and become Santander credit cards.

Santander Credit CardsThis rebranding to Santander follows the recent announcement that Santander’s 3 UK business, Abbey, Alliance & Leicester and Bradford & Bingley Savings, will take the Santander global name in 2010.

New credit cards will have the Santander name, as will replacement cards.

Credit cards offered by Santander include

  • Santander Zero – offers 0% on balance transfers for 12 months and purchase for 3 months, has no foreign exchange fee and no cash advance fee
  • Santander Credit Card – offers 0% on balance transfers for 15 months and on purchase for 3 months, with an ongoing APR of 15.9%.

Existing Abbey credit card customers have been advised of the changes.

As a freebie to celebrate the rebrand, Santander are offering their existing Santander Credit Card customers fee-free foreign usage during June and July.

This is clearly a great offer, but only if you’re off abroad during June and July.

As well as the Santander Zero, there are other options available to get the best deal on your holiday travel money.

As currency cards grow in popularity so too do the number of providers, including such as Lloyds TSB, the Post Office, FairFX and Travelex to name a few.

MoneyHighStreet has a special reader offer with FairFX

You can get a FREE FairFX currency card here – just sign up and load €10 and get the card free – it usually costs £9.95.
