Direct Line are offering new car insurance customers one free day’s cover each week.

Car InsuranceThis innovative offer from Direct Line will mean a discounted premium but the same level of car insurance cover.

The offer is only available until 30 June 09.

If comprehensive car insurance is taken out, the policy will automatically include

  • Vandalism promise – meaning that if you have to make a claim following vandalism to your car, you will not lose your no claims bonus or your excess
  • Uninsured driver promise – if you claim for an accident that wasn’t your fault and the driver of the car that hits you is uninsured, you will not lose your no claims bonus or excess

Direct Line also have a home insurance offer available until 31 May 09.

This offers new customers 12 months home insurance, combined buildings and contents cover, for the price of 10 months.

Mike Tildesley, Director of Marketing for Direct Line, said ‘We are not on price comparison websites so we don’t pay them commissions. This means that when you come to us direct we could give you savings.’

Both car insurance and home insurance are both highly competitive and very price sensitive, particularly in the current financial climate.

Insurers often provide different incentives to entice you to buy their insurance.

For example MORE TH>N are currently offering 10% off their car insurance for new customers in the first year and 50% off the MORE TH>N breakdown cover.

Tescos are offering a 15% online discount and an exclusive offer of a discounted price in the first year for their Clubcard customers.

Sainsbury’s are currently offering a 25% discount for new customers on home insurance buildings and contents combined, when bought before 30 Jun 09. There’s also a £30 Sainsbury’s voucher for shopping or fuel available and a further 5% discount if you buy online.

So many to choose from.

Direct Line are keen to point out that they don’t use insurance comparison websites.

This is good as they can potentially offer more incentives to customers, however, with so many providers all offering their own incentives, it is worth while shopping around to find the best insurance for your needs at the best price.

There are numerous car insurance and home insurance comparison websites, including Moneysupermarket.com, Gocompare.com, Confused.com and Comparethemarket.com.
