O2 has been named the UK''s fastest broadband provider in tests conducted by a price comparison site.
Customers of the internet service provider experience a speed of 4.95 Mbps, making it the fastest connection in the country.
In second place was Sky with a speed of 3.63 Mbps and Orange with 3Mbps.
The tests were based on a survey of 60,000 UK broadband connections.
Rob Barnes, head of broadband at moneysupermarket.com, said: "Our tests have shown O2 is not just an overnight success - it''s establishing itself as one of the best broadband providers on the market.
"With Orange also pushing its way into the top three, mobile networks are dominating the 8Mb market at the moment, although whether Orange can maintain consistency remains to be seen."
The win marks the second in recent weeks for O2 after it garnered the award for best customer service from toptenbroadband.com.
