How much did Microsoft pay for this article? So much for the 5th estate.

      • Diane Ray says:

To confirm Microsoft has paid nothing for this article – apart from of course the Xbox 360 being their great games console Microsoft has nothing to do with it at all. Our intention in writing it is to help buyers find the best Xbox 360 bundle and judging by feedback we have received people are finding it very useful.

    4. Don't Buy a BRICK! says:

Here’s a word to the wise: DON’T BUY A BRICK

The failure rate of XBOX360′s is over 50%! That means that you have a better than 50% chance of your machine dying on you for no reason. Feel free to search this information out for yourself.

I bought an Elite because they were supposedly more reliable. I thought I knew what I was getting into. My XBOX died within 12 months. Microsoft will fix or replace it for free — GREAT. So I sent it away. Three weeks later I got back a different (refurbished) console. That one died within three weeks of casual use. Sent that one away, and got one back. Same thing — within one month of casual use, it was a BRICK.

Tried once more, but ended up buying a PS3 out of frustration. Never been happier. PS3s are reliable, the game play is better, and I can watch Blu-Ray movies! (It’s the best BR player on the market, as the firmware is updated constantly via internet…) It also syncs to my computer’s media files effortlessly (something that was a pain on the XBOX), and I haven’t had any problems with file formats (again, tons of problems on the XBOX)

Best of all, it’s quiet. The XBOX sounds like a jet taking off — I literally had to turn up the sound to drown it out! The PS3 is quiet as a mouse.

I am never paying for online multiplayer again.

Stay away from the XBOX 360. Buy a PS3 instead.

    5. rust says:

I have had my 360 4 almost 3 years now with out any problems and would chose the 360 ove ps3 any day.

    6. superdry says:

I have had my xbox 360 since launch day and had no issues with it whatsoever – until this morning (three red lights – argh!)! However, have just been out and bought an Elite replacement (which I was itching to do anyway) and got a pretty good deal from GAME that put the effective cost of the console at 140 quid (after value of freebie games were deducted). I thought about swapping my 360 for a ps3 in the past, but I concluded that I would be missing out on too many games that appealed to me, such as Halo Reach, Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake and Splinter Cell Conviction. I’m sure I’ll stump for one at some point in the future when they’re sub-150 so that I can enjoy uncharted 2 and heavy rain, but my 360 is more than enough for the next 4 years of glorius gaming!
