Fireworks
Home Bonfire Night celebrations could lead to seven-figure legal claims, esure warned today.

According to the insurance provider, personal liability laws mean that court-enforced payouts could be levied on party hosts in certain circumstances, if a guest is injured while on the premises.

Figures cited by esure also showed that around six per cent of Britons are planning such a celebration.

Moreover, ten per cent are planning to attend someone else''s party.

Personal liability claims are covered by some home insurance policies.

"Without personal liability cover, a valid claim could be pursued against the assets of any individual including their earnings, property or other possessions," esure said in a statement today.

"If the organiser has failed to read instructions, ignored recommended ''setting off'' distances or lit fireworks while inebriated, a claim could easily ensue - especially given the growing public awareness of the potential for litigation."
