As revellers prepare for this year''s Glastonbury Festival, a new survey has revealed the importance of insurance cover for those heading to music events this summer.
Festivities at Worthy Farm in Somerset kick off tomorrow (June 27th), but Zurich Insurance has revealed that many people will end up having their possessions stolen while enjoying the music.
In fact, the new survey revealed that one in ten festival goers this summer will have something stolen from them while they listen to their favourite bands.
What''s more, the research highlighted the importance of insurance, as the vast majority of festival goers take valuable items like mobile phones (82 per cent), cameras (63 per cent) and iPods and MP3 players (16 per cent).
Worrying, the study found that 75 per cent of people at festivals this summer will not take action to safeguard their possessions or arrange insurance.
"Our research shows that many music lovers are taking unnecessary risks by storing expensive goods in tents, carrying pricey items on them and failing to consider protecting themselves from theft," commented Mike Quinton, managing director for Direct & Partnerships at Zurich.
"We urge all festival goers this summer to plan ahead, only take what they need to as well as checking their cover before they go."
