There is a great way for Brits to lose excess pounds from their energy bills, which doesn’t involve connecting the treadmill to the light bulb. Eon are launching a competition to find the most ‘energy fit’ family in the UK.
Nell McAndrew, a fitness guru, is joining forces with E.ON to find ten families to compete in a national energy fitness challenge.
Armed with a bespoke 12 week energy fitness plan, the 10 chosen families will be tasked with adopting a leaner, more energy savvy approach towards the way they use energy in and around the home.
The family that saves the most money from their energy bills will win the competition and will receive a £1000 cash prize, in addition to the cost saving that they have made. They will also be crowned the ‘E.ON’s Watt Watcher Energy Fitness Champions 2010′.
As well as heading-up the search for the 10 families, Nell McAndrew has been getting to grips with her own ‘energy fitness’ regime:
“Getting energy fit is surprisingly easy and something which the whole family can get involved in.
“My family is as chaotic as most, and yet I’ve realised there are simple and effective steps that everyone can take to save energy. What’s more, it can be a lot of fun!”,she said.
Last years winner, Lesley Roberts from Newcastle, said that the competition had shown her how easy it is to cut energy consumption and “in just three months, I reduced my annual energy spend by 40% – an achievement I’d attribute to becoming more aware of the way I was using power and gas in and around my home.”
So if you fancy entering your family into the Energy Fit Watt Watcher Challenge, you can register at www.eonenergyfit.com/wattwatchers before 29 August 2010. It sounds like a great way of learning how to reduce your energy bills as well as having a chance to win the £1000 prize.
