first:utility has launched a new dual fuel energy plan which it claims beats the British Gas standard tariff. But does it?

Dual Fuel Energy PlanAccording to Mark Greening, Head of Utilities at Gocompare.com the first:utility claim that they beat the latest British Gas dual fuel energy plan ‘depends entirely on the exact selection made by the customer and their location and may not be the cheapest standard dual fuel tariff for everyone.’

Mark Greening added “Whilst some energy companies would have you believe that their latest tariffs are the cheapest for everyone there isn’t a single tariff from any energy provider which fulfils that promise. Consumers should always compare energy tariffs using their own real energy usage estimates and their location and not assume that the average figures used by energy companies will apply to them.”

You can easily compare energy tariffs using a comparison service such as that offered by Confused.com or uSwitch.com or Gocompare.com,

Switching energy provider is easy, perhaps easier than you might think and you really can save money.

As well as making sure you have the best energy plan to meet your needs, there are of course other ways to save money on your energy bills, including insulate your loft, turn your appliances off and turn your heating down by 1 degree.
