EDF Online Saver 9 Launched

EDF Online Saver 9 has been launched, guaranteeing a minimum 2% discount on EDF Energy’s standard rates until June next year.
The new EDF Online Saver 9 is a variable price energy plan, albiet there is the guranteed 2% discount against EDF’s standard rates.
The plan is available for electricity or dual fuel customers.
If you pay by monthly direct debit you can get a 6% discount and according to EDF if you sign up for dual fuel and pay direct debit you could save up to £210* off its standard prices.
Of course, as a variable plan it means prices could go up or down.
When the guaranteed period comes to an end, customers will be transferred to the company’s standard tariff.
Switching energy plan though before the end of the period carries an Early Termination Payment of £30 for each of electricity and gas.

MoneyHighStreet.com comment: This new Online Saver energy plan from EDF is attractive, particularly as it is an online deal. You do need to remember though that it is a variable plan and not a fixed plan – if you want to fix your energy bills for a period of time, you’d be better placed to consider a fixed price plan.
You do need to compare energy deals before switching supplier, making sure you assess the best option for you that meets your needs. It is not simply a case of ‘one size fits all’.
* The £210 amount includes national average savings of £143.35 (based on the comparison between a Dual Fuel Standard tariff customer paying by Cash/Cheque and a Dual Fuel Online S@ver Version 9 customer paying by monthly Direct Debit), a monthly Direct Debit discount of 6% (equal to £58.99 per annum including VAT) and a Dual Fuel discount of £8.40 (including VAT) per year, based on a typical average consumption of 3,300kWh electricity and 16,500kWh gas. Monthly Direct Debit discounts are applied before VAT and any other discounts have been deducted.
