British Gas has a new boiler scrappage scheme, welcome news for many as it plugs the gap following the withdrawal of the Government scheme last year.
The new British Gas scheme offers £400 off a new Worcester Bosch boiler or £200 off other boiler models – but you need to apply by 30 June 2011 to qualify.
The scheme is available to anyone who interested in a new energy efficient boiler, you don’t have to be a British Gas cusotmer.
You can also get a FREE energy efficiency assessment of your home, helping you to understand how you can reduce energy consumption and save money.
You can book an appointment online, it’s easy and quick to do.
As Tom Lyon, energy expert at uSwitch.com comments “Inefficient boilers contribute significantly to household carbon emissions. In addition, installing a modern energy efficient boiler can save households up to £225 a year on heating bills[1]. With the average boiler lifespan of 12 years this is a substantial saving on energy bills which means the boiler could pay for itself[1].
Heating and hot water accounts for around 60% of the average household energy bill, which means people can expect to pay £679 a year on these alone[2].
And with energy prices likely to increase, it makes absolute sense to focus energy efficiency efforts here where people have the most to gain. Hopefully British Gas’ scheme will help people to take become more energy efficient, and cut their bills ahead of any further price rises.”
