As Clocks Go Forward this weekend nearly half of Brits admit their concentration levels are reduced the next day and drivers in particular are warned to be careful when driving.

Car InsuranceAccording to a survey by M&S Car Insurance, some 42% of Brits admit that losing an hour of sleep affects their concentration levels the next day. Nearly half of adults take two or more days to recover from the clocks going forward.

Amazingly some 16% of adults in the UK forgot to move their clocks forward last year and over 20% admit to being late for a meeting as a result of them changing.

As we are about to move into British Summer Time, David Wells, M&S Head of Insurance, said: “It certainly helps to be prepared for the clocks going forward, but few of us are organised enough, or feel tired enough to go to bed earlier than usual.

Being tired and rushing around because you might be late for work or a social event is a dangerous combination when behind the wheel of a car.  It could lead to drivers not paying attention to the road, or to other road users.”

M&S Money was founded in 1985 as the financial services division of Marks and Spencer and was sold to HSBC in 2004.
