Three UK will offer two SIM only plans for the Apple iPad from Friday 28th May. These deals do not require a contract and provide the freedom to activate or cancel the service at any time.

Apple iPadThe Three UK plans offer WiFi and 3G mobile broadband connectivity and come in two data allowances: 1GB for a monthly fee of £7.50 or 10 GB bandwidth allowance for £15 per month. iPad Sim only plans are also available from Vodafone.

iPad users wanting to take advantage of this SIM only deal can register on the Three web site to obtain the SIM pack. Your pack will give you all the information you need to connect your micro-SIM with your iPad. When you call Three to connect they will need to do a credit check, so you must be a UK resident, aged 18 years or over, and have a UK bank account. You’ll need a Visa, MasterCard or Amex card to hand. You can cancel your contract at any time.

These data allowances seem generous when compared to some of the dongle based pay as you go mobile broadband services. For example Vodafone charges £15 for 3GB of bandwidth that expires after 30 days.

As Marc Allera, sales and marketing director at Three emphasises: “”Three is pleased to offer competitive data plans for iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G in the UK. Our network, the largest in the country, has been optimised for the mobile Internet, ensuring our customers enjoy the very best mobile performance on iPad.”
