John Lewis to launch new Value range

Published: 7 September 2009 By Diane Ray 1 Comment

Interesting times it seems for John Lewis as they are set to launch their low cost Value range.

No doubt designed to compete with the ‘value’ ranges already in the Supermarkets, such as the Tesco Value range and the Sainsbury’s Basics range and a ploy to stop customers slipping off to these cheaper alternatives.

The new value range from John Lewis will support its ‘Never knowingly undersold’ proposition and will launch next week, 14 September.

It will initially consist of 100 homeware items, with further items and lines to be added next year.

Included in the Value range at launch will be a set of 3 saucepans for £12 and a box of 4 wine glasses for £4.

As many people are being hit by the recession and trying hard to save money or deal with debt problems, this seems like a great move by John Lewis.

This is going to be a bad move by John lewis and end up like Primark. Eventually this will drive away big spenders and most valuable customers far away.
