The Gruffalo is coming

If you’re a parent of a young child, or you’re just keeping up with popular children’s fiction, then I’m sure you’ll have heard of the Gruffalo….the magical tale of a mouse who takes a walk through the deep dark woods in search of a nut.

When I first came across it I must admit I was a little cautious, having grown up myself with the likes of Enid Blyton and the Magic Faraway Tree and Winnie the Pooh, this all seemed rather different!

Anyway, it really is a great story and one that I’ve lost count how many times I’ve read to children. In case you don’t know, during his walk, the mouse meets 3 predators (a fox, an owl and a snake) who all want to eat him. But the little mouse uses his wits to survive and creates an imaginary monster, the Gruffalo, to help.

The great news is that as well as the Gruffalo book being available, from March the Gruffalo will be available on DVD. This version was broadcast by the BBC on Christmas Day and features Robbie Coltrane as the Gruffalo.

In case you want to know more, here’s the BBC trailer:

I know this is not quite the usual personal finance info you’d get on MoneyHighStreet, but hopefully you’ll appreciate my sharing with you!

I too liked Enid Blyton and her books such as The Magic Faraway Tree as a child, which induced me to write a book on her titled, the Famous Five: A Personal Anecdotage (www.bbotw.com).
