Lower your electricity and gas bills with an online account

Rising gas and electricity prices are hitting all of us hard, but there are ways to reduce your energy bills by around 10%, depending on which energy provider you use.

Paying monthly by direct debit is always a good idea to reduce your energy bills. Eon, for example claim that you can reduce your bills by up to 9 percent using monthly direct debit payments.

Buying dual fuels from the same supplier too, is a good money saving idea, but you have to be careful that you are actually getting a better deal using one, rather than two separate suppliers.

As the gas and electricity companies embrace the Internet, more of them are now allowing you to manage your account online, and reward you with lower fuel costs as this reduces their management costs. It’s quick and easy to set up an online account and then you can do things like enter your meter readings, view and pay your bills or set up a direct debit payment.

Eon, for example, claim that you can save up to £140 per year using the EnergyOnline service. The amount that you save does depend on your exact tariff, however it has to be worth a few minutes of your time to see what online services your gas and electricity company provide.
